Shekou container terminal co., LTD. (SCT), founded in 1989, is the earliest specialized container terminal in shenzhen and the earliest sino-foreign joint venture terminal in mainland China. SCT is currently controlled by CMPort, the largest public terminal operator in China. As a member of CMPort in mainland China, SCT has become CMPort's home port in shenzhen after more than 20 years of development. SCT is located in the southwest of shenzhen and the east bank of the pearl river estuary.
SCT port area covers a total area of 140 hectares, with 9 deep-water berths, 3,440 meters of berth coastline, and 33 quayside loading and unloading Bridges. The yard is equipped with 107 field Bridges with a designed capacity of 6.6 million TEU. In 2018, the throughput reached 5.62 million teu. In December 2014, the central government included SCT in the pilot zone of China (guangdong) free trade zone.
