Sixth Edition of C-Blue Voyage Training Program Officially Kicks off

On November 11th, the fall edition of China Merchants Group’s “C-Blue Training Program-Voyage” was launched at Wuhan University of Technology, the sixth edition since its initial introduction. The event was funded by China Merchants Charity Foundation and organized by China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CMPG”) in cooperation with Wuhan University of Technology.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, CMPG deputy general manager Huang Chuanjing recalled the close bond between China Merchants and the City of Wuhan, before presenting the century-old enterprise’s rich historical journey.

According to Mr. Huang, the founding goal of the C-Blue Training Program was to offer port- and shipping-industry professionals from nations along the “Belt and Road” the opportunity to set foot in china, experience the country’s cutting-edge management systems, visit local business firms, and exchange the latest industry insights.

Mr. Huang also pointed out that the training program would allow foreign participants to witness the charm of traditional Chinese culture, comprehend the wonder of eastern wisdom, and experience the thriving power of China’s economy. As it further conveys the “Belt and Road” values of policy exchange, infrastructure connectivity, open trade, capital sharing and unity, C-Blue seeks to nurture friendships, light up hope, encourage cooperation, and achieve joint prosperity on its vast homeland.

A co-organizer of the program and a top university under the education department’s direct supervision, Wuhan University of Technology has nurtured generations of technical and managerial talent for the transportation industry.

Zhao Jing, deputy secretary of Wuhan University’s Party Committee, said in his welcome speech that the school was fully prepared and had set up six special lectures, including the latest development trends for container terminals and “green automation, the “Belt and Road” and hub economy, water transportation safety, the Ming Treasure Voyages and the history of ships, current development trends for shipping along Yangtze River, as well as intelligent transport and comprehensive transportation. The program also set up a series of Chinese courses and lectures on traditional Chinese culture.

Mr. Zhao expressed his hope that, by participating in this program, the trainees would gain important insights into the latest technological trends in the port and shipping industry, learn about Chinese culture, and exchange knowledge through communication and camaraderie.

The latest edition of the program has reportedly attracted 23 elite professionals from 11 countries across 4 continents, who convened in China after a demanding selection process. The trainees will attend classes in Wuhan, Beijing and Shenzhen that feature lectures by experts from Wuhan University of Technology and the Ministry of Transport, while visiting such locations as the Three Gorges Dam, Yangluo Port, and Shekou Container Terminal. In addition, they can look forward to fascinating cultural courses on topics like the Chinese language and ceramic art.

First initiated in 2016 to help foreign professionals enrich their career knowledge, improve their port- and shipping-related skills and explore the diverse world of Chinese culture, C-Blue Training Program – Voyage will return for a brand new edition next summer.
