Closing Ceremony was Held for the First China Merchants C Blue Training Programme

 

The closing ceremony for the first China Merchants C Blue Training Programme (“Training Programme”) was held in Shenzhen on 29 September, 2016, signifying the success of the first ever “Training Programme”. Originated from seven countries across Asia and Africa, the 30 trainees, who are expected to contribute to the maritime industry in China and in their respective home countries in the future, successfully completed the course.

 

        Mr. Hu Jianhua, Executive Vice President of the China Merchants Group (CMG), Mr. Bai Jingtao, Managing Director of CMPort, Mr. Huang Yi, Secretary-General of China Merchants Charitable Foundation, and Mr. Yu Siqin, Executive Deputy Dean from Shanghai Advanced Institute of International Shipping, together with 30 trainees from seven countries, namely Sri Lanka, Djibouti, Togo, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa and Kenya joined the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was hosted by Mr. Hang Tian, Deputy General Manager of CMPort and was witnessed by CMPort and its employees from Shenzhen office.

 

During the short yet solemn ceremony, Mr. Hu Jianhua congratulated the trainees on their completion of the training programme and appreciated their extensive efforts. He said, CMG is seeking to extend the application of its sophisticated operating and management models by investing in infrastructure build-ups, of which includes construction of ports, logistic parks and industrial zones in the overseas. When gradually expanding its overseas footprint, we also attempt to localise the operations by deploying local talents, by learning local languages, which in turns facilitates social progress and commercial success. We hope the “Training Programme” could create further learning opportunities for local talents and provide a communication platform which could help others to realise their dreams through the sharing of knowledge, value and culture of CMG.

 

Mr. Bai Jingtao said, “Training Programme” charitable project is the first ever multi-national professional training project hosted by CMPort, and is an attempt to incorporate innovative elements into charitable activities, by the sharing of successful experience and knowledge which helps facilitate long term developments, rather than solely sharing the resources, which could only be beneficial to the society in a shorter term. We hope to turn the “C Blue” Project into a platform that enables communications, interactions and cultural integration, through which strengths of the talents could be maximized, careers could be further advanced and value could be shared.

 

The trainees performed programmes that carry their home countries’ aroma to express their gratitude to the project team during the closing ceremony. Representative of the trainees delivered in the speech that, they appreciated the learning opportunities provided by CMG, and were agreed with the CMG’s philosophy of “value sharing” that take place within the globe. They will bring new knowledge, concepts and trends learnt in China to their respective home countries, and provide guidance to others who would like to fulfill their dreams, and thereby enables capable talents to capture opportunities available.

 

Lastly, managements, including Mr. Hu Jianhua, Mr. Huang Yi and Mr. Bai Jingtao distributed the certificate of completion to the trainees. Meanwhile, they encouraged the trainees to become the impetus to drive the development of their colleagues and industry through leveraging their knowledge and wisdom.

 

Introduction to China Merchants C Blue Training Programme:

 

The plan was sponsored by China Merchants Charitable Foundation and hosted by CMPort. This is the first corporate social responsibility project held by CMPort, a subsidiary of CMG, that is under the name of “C Blue”, with the theme of facilitating the sharing of value within the globe, and promote social progress through commercial success in the countries that are located along the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. The project aims to nurture future industry leaders for countries located along the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. The training programme covers areas such as ports, shipping, logistics and free trade zones, and has incorporated with the elements of diversified interaction and cultural experience, which, not only enriches the professional knowledge of the trainees, but also help them in exploring the traditional culture of China, through which the understanding of different cultures could be enhanced and communications could be facilitated.
