Colombo International Container Terminals Limited (CICT)

Colombo international container terminals co., LTD. (CICT) started construction in December 2011 and was fully completed in April 2014 with a total investment of us $560 million. CICT is a joint venture between China merchants port and Sri Lanka port authority.

CICT is the only large-scale greenfield wharf investment project with a key strategic position on the world's major ocean shipping routes, namely the far east to Europe shipping routes and the maritime silk road, which is mainly controlled and managed by Chinese enterprises, with a scale of terminal business, good financial returns and positive international influence.

Container throughput in 2018 was 2.67 million teu.

CICT is now the only deep-water port in South Asia, and its vision is to build the most reliable container terminal for customers in South Asia.
